CTM Festival

CTM Festival: Berlin's festival for adventurous music and art, born in 1999 as club transmediale alongside the transmediale media-art festival.

CTM Festival is an annual festival of experimental, electronic and club-related music and art in Berlin. It began in 1999 as club transmediale, a special programme of electronic music and club culture organised for the transmediale media-art festival at the former Maria am Ostbahnhof club, by a team that included Jan Rohlf, Marc Weiser, Oliver Baurhenn and Remco Schuurbiers. It soon became a festival in its own right while keeping transmediale as its main partner.

In 2006 its subtitle changed from a festival of electronic music and related visual arts to one of adventurous music and art, a broader remit with room for noise, drone and contemporary composition alongside club music. Since 2012 its main venues have included HAU Hebbel am Ufer, Berghain and Kunstquartier Bethanien, and each edition is built around a theme that shapes its formats, locations and ways of listening. Its partners have included the Unsound festival and the Editions Mego label.
